THE JOURNEY OF THE FEMALE SELF IN THE NOVEL BRAIDS OF PATIENCE: FROM PAIN TO SELF-RECOVERY

This study examines the transformations of the female self in the novel Braids of Patience by the Jordanian author Īmān Karīmīn, by tracing the psychological and existential trajectories of the main character within her social context. The study highlights writing as a form of resistance that contributes to the reshaping of the self and the recovery of voice, from a feminist perspective that emphasizes the act of writing. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and relies on feminist criticism to analyze representations of female identity and mechanisms of resisting domination, while tracing patterns of the formation and transformation of the female self within the social and cultural context. The study concludes that the novel offers a rich narrative experience that reflects the woman’s struggle between oppression and the desire for liberation, through multiple voices and intertwined narrative strands, making Braids of Patience a distinguished contribution to contemporary Arab feminist literature.
