Abstract

Reliance on Allah is one of the supreme acts of worship, mainly it involves the believer’s heart. However, some get confused when considering this type of worship in light of the cause and effect tenets, or rather observing the health preventive measures. This is clearly noticed due the COVID-19 plague all over the world. Some contend that adopting the preventive measures contradicts true reliance on Allah, or at least undermines the religious teachings. As such, this dilemma needed a detailed elaboration from an Islamic point of view. Thus, this paper addresses reliance on Allah as a creedal term, its literal and technical concept, status, categories, as well as the Islamically adopted measures to deal with both contagious and non-contagious diseases. This exposition is closely linked to the health standards and recommendations forwarded by global health centers and organization, where the preventive measures, the importance of disease prevention and adopted procedures in this regard are detailed. Then, the paper highlights the relation between reliance on Allah and adopting the required preventive measure to secure better health.
