This research deals with the issue of justifying for the naming, through the application to a number of names of the countries, in response to the saying: “Names are not explained”, because all kinds of the names have a reason that exists in the same person who put them, whether he declared it or was silent about it, and whether we understood it or we were unable to explain it, but some of the authors of the dictionaries of the countries did not accept the inability to interpret some of the names of the ancient countries, from which the Arab region had a great fortune, so they began to invent some distant mythical interpretations, either by linking them to the names of some of those who bygone through the lineages that have no chain of the beginning and end or by presenting them to the standards of Arabic derivation (Ishtiqaq), although most of them are foreign names. The researcher has dealt with this topic through the analytical descriptive approach, and ended up rejecting these two kinds of the mythical interpretations, because they are among some relative strings fabricated or there is no evidence for them perfectly, and the so-called derivations are mostly based on the artificial affectation, especially the foreign names. The researcher called for the need to pause carefully before these interpretations, especially when relying in them on reports that are dependent on some of the Companions of the Prophet or attributed directly to the Messenger (peace be upon him), and he stressed the need to invest in the achievements of the sciences of Hadith, Geography, History and Comparative Linguistics, with the importance of resorting to the experts in the linguistic etymology, to follow the path of the word linguistically, and understanding its phonetic and semantic transformations, which brings the potential meaning closer to a correct interpretation, that embraces the truth, rejects the myth, and demolishes the idols of those myths.
